Course Details
This workshop covers the steps to put structure into a chasing toy game. We create some excitement for the toy, get the dog to chase and strike it, work on that challenging return of the toy, how to drop it (another likely challenge!) and then how to put rules on that exciting game. We'll use 2 identical toys at first, with some luring and prompting and running around, and then fade out the prompting to create a dog that "pushes" you for more throws, by dropping and throwing the toy at you. Included are advanced steps, common problem solving, variations on long chases to make it easier on your dog's body, different marker cues, and how to add behavior skills (listening to your dog's opinion of the training session!). Dogs that would do best in working spots in this workshop are dogs that already have interest in chasing toys (without the use of treats) and students who want to use this reinforcement in their sport behaviors.
